New version delivers major advances in ultrasonic inspection performance, speed, and configurability.
We are proud to announce the release of TDScan 20.05, introducing significant new capabilities that position the FocusScan RXII and other Technology Design systems at the forefront of portable computerized ultrasonic testing (UT) inspection.
TDScan 20.05 delivers substantially improved data acquisition rates and performance enhancements. When used with the FocusScan RXII for Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD) inspections, advances in noise reduction now reduce the need for signal averaging, enabling faster and more efficient inspections without compromising data quality.
For the first time, Full Matrix Capture (FMC) and Total Focusing Method (TFM) are now available within the Technology Design portfolio. Engineers can integrate real-time, encoded, multi-channel TFM into existing inspection plans using new, highly configurable controls within the familiar TDScan user interface. TDScan 20.05 supports multiple FMC/TFM acquisition methods, including:
- Full Matrix
- Half Matrix
- Custom configurations
- Plane Wave Imaging (PWI)
- Virtual Source – Linear
- Virtual Source – Swept Angle
The latest release also includes enhanced Soft Gate functionality, with new Fixed and Floating options in both time and amplitude. These improvements deliver greater measurement accuracy for corrosion mapping and other applications where inspection signals may vary significantly.
TDScan 20.05 now fully supports codes and acceptance criteria expressed in decibels (dB) relative to an amplitude reference level. The software displays dB values against an operator-defined reference in real time and analysis modes, simplifying compliance with inspection standards.
Additional enhancements include the ability to define polygonal inspection areas with hysteresis correction, a feature proven highly effective in aircraft wing inspections. The well-known StripScan module for zonal inspections has also been expanded, offering greater configurability to meet specific code and customer requirements.
